Nashville, TN (March 6, 2008) — In Christ Alone: Modern Hymns of Worship, the new collaborations from
Bethany Dillon and Matt Hammitt,
releases March 11, 2008. The recording features well-known hymns with all new arrangements courtesy of producer John Mark
Painter (Fleming and John, Ben Folds, Jon Foreman). The twelve-song collection includes such favorites as “How Deep the
Father’s Love for Us,” “The Power of the Cross,” and the title track, “In Christ Alone”.
Singer/songwriter Bethany Dillon and Sanctus Real frontman Matt Hammitt lend their vocal talents to the project that began as a discussion over coffee last spring at Gospel Music Week between Painter, Dillon and Hammitt. The album was recorded over two months in the summer of 2007, with each artist making the trip down to Nashville to record their parts. Both Dillon and Hammitt, who were sought out because of their impressive and unique vocal styling, were equally drawn to the project through a love for the hymns and respect for producer John Mark Painter’s previous work.
Painter brings his extensive experience as both an artist and producer to the project. He has played multiple instruments on albums by Ben Folds and Sixpence None the Richer, composed for feature films (“The Second Chance” starring Michael W. Smith), and performed as half of the famous husband and wife duo Fleming and John.
Both artists are on tour separately this spring, Bethany Dillon out on Shane and Shane’s Visions of You Spring Tour and Sanctus Real supporting Third Day throughout March and April. Additionally, Sanctus Real’s We Need Each Other is in stores now and Bethany Dillon releases So Far: The Acoustic Sessions April 1, 2008.
